The honeymoon is a holiday trip taken by a newly married couple. It’s usually taken to celebrate marriage, and presumably, consummate it. The honeymoon is in fact the most romantic, calm and harmonious period of the marital relationship. A honeymoon is very important phase in one’s life. It offers a newly married couple to understand each other physically as well as mentally. The honeymoons are often celebrated in places that are secluded, exotic, warm, or otherwise considered special and romantic. The sunny beaches, scenic coastlines, and mountain retreats are considered perfect honeymoon settings.

Planning for your honeymoon is very important and you only have one so make it great. A honeymoon is your chance to get away from your daily grind and relax with your new life partner. Planning the honeymoon requires time in order to make it worthwhile and memorable.

Tips to Plan for Your Honeymoon

Discuss with your fiancée your preferences for your honeymoon. Honeymoon planning is much simpler if you write down your preferences in order of location, budget, activities and amenities. Each person should create their own list then compare to find areas that overlap. Don’t assume you know what type of honeymoon your fiancée would choose. Have a candid discussion of budget, time off available from work and minimum requirements for lodgings. This is not the time to spring the no electricity, no frills beach retreat of your fantasies! At least, unless it’s fully discussed and agreed to before hand.

Another issue you have to consider is the season in your honeymoon destination. It may not be a good idea if you plan to join the hiking tour in Nepal during summer, which is the monsoon season. The season is even more important if you really choose to go to Antarctica. You can only go to Antarctica during the summer (in the southern hemisphere). Of course there will be less problem if your honeymoon destination is places with equatorial climate, such as Indonesia and northern Brazil.

When doing your honeymoon planning, prepay as much as possible. You’ll have incidental expenses like gratuities and souvenirs. These tend to be manageable expenses. However, if you neglect to budget for hotel taxes, spa treatments, or car rentals, you can easily outrun your budget onsite. Your honeymoon is not the place to eat fast food hamburgers in order to pay the hotel bill!

To avoid financial problems later on, be sure to set aside a honeymoon budget that is enough to cover the whole period of your honeymoon. Remember getting married is the start of a long-term life with each other. Do not over spend on your honeymoon, as money can be use in other important things like mortgage and anniversary celebration.

Whatever the location of your honeymoon destination, bear in mind to get a room with a magnificent view of either the ocean or a scenic mountaintops or even a lively cityscapes that will bring you both closer to learning other cultures as well. Going on a honeymoon means enjoying and having the time of your life; it’s a celebration of your union as husbands and wife. That’s why the most important thing in planning your honeymoon is not to fight with each other about choosing the perfect honeymoon place.
